ANTHONY & GITA BROOKE

Meeting at Govik in the late 1960s, Anthony and Gita established OPTU in its earliest form in Sweden in 1975 as The Foundation for Peace Through Unity. Since then it has had various legal forms including as a New Zealand Charitable Trust, but has always been defined by its roots in the Brooke Sarawak story.

The Brooke Fellowship

Established by Gita within the Brooke Trust in 2014, the Fellowship has a Vision for ‘a more enlightened global community of world citizens: ‘living together in peace with one another as good neighbours’. She sought to ‘underscore the persistent emphasis and commitment by a long line of Brooke Rajahs to serve humanity, linked through Anthony Brooke, the last ruler, and through Anthony Brooke, the founder of Peace through Unity.’
